If you're looking for help fixing your Amana fridge, look no further! Our comprehensive Amana refrigerator troubleshooting guide will explain common problems, provide tips, and show you how to read your model's error codes.
Amana refrigerator does not cool
Condenser coils are usually located under the refrigerator. They dissipate heat as coolant passes through them. If the condenser coils are dirty, they will not dissipate heat efficiently. As debris builds up on the coils, the cooler becomes less efficient, causing it to work harder to cool. If the coils are too dirty, the refrigerator will not be able to maintain the proper temperature. Check the condenser coils to determine if they are dirty - if the condenser coils are dirty, clean them.
Amana fridge water dispenser not working
To determine if the water supply pipe is frozen, disconnect the pipe at the bottom of the port and blow air through it. If air does not pass, it indicates that the water supply pipe is frozen. If the water supply pipe is frozen, thaw it. Also, make sure the freezer is kept at the proper temperature. Freezer temperature should be kept between 0-10 degrees Fahrenheit. If the freezer is too cold, the water line can freeze.
Amana fridge not working
If the freezer temperature is above 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-12C), the ice maker will not produce ice cubes efficiently. The freezer temperature must be set between 0 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 to -15C) for the ice maker to work properly. If the freezer temperature is too high, make sure the condenser coils are free of debris and the condenser fan is working properly. Also, check the evaporator coils for ice buildup. If the evaporator coils are frozen, it is likely that part of the deicing system has failed.
Amana fridge ice dispenser not working
The dispenser control board controls most functions of the dispenser system. If the control board is faulty, it can stop providing power to the entire dispenser system. If only one part of the dispenser is not working, test each of the dispenser components before testing the control board. It is more likely that a single part failed. If the entire dispensing system is not working, it is most likely the control panel that is faulty.
Amana refrigerator does not defrost
The defrost control board determines how often to run the defrost cycle. If the board fails, the refrigerator will not enter the defrost cycle. Before replacing the defrost control board, first test the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. If the defrost heater and defrost thermostat are working properly, the defrost control board is probably faulty.
The Amana refrigerator is noisy or noisy
If the refrigerator is loud or noisy, especially when one of the doors is open, the evaporator or condenser fan blade may be defective. First, check the evaporator fan blade in the freezer behind the rear panel. Try rotating it manually. If the fan blade does not spin freely, check to see if the blade is rubbing against something or if something is caught in the blade. Also, check the condenser fan blade on the back of the refrigerator to determine if there is any obstruction.

I am a homeowner in occasional need for new appliances. I went to Menards in Massilon OH in January 2013 and bought an Amana fridge for about $600.00. I had no problems until January of this year, 24 months after purchase. Bad compressor. The replacement cost is $445.00. menards said i should have bought an extended warranty, they were zero help. Amana only guarantees its product for 12 months. I have found that most mfrs have also reduced their warranties to 12 months, however I have several Frigidaire refrigerators that have lasted many years. The Frigidaire at my house is 17 years old with no issues. I will never buy from Menards again or buy anything from Amana. Go Frigidaire.

My Amana appliance is 11 years old and I might expect it to last longer, but I've had it repaired twice in the past two years. They just don't make things the way they used to or maybe it's the country they make them. I had a Sears refrigerator with bottom freezer, I think it was a Kenmore brand and when I left the house it was 19 years old, working fine. But I didn't want to move because it was too big and I was moving into an apartment. It really is a good fridge, but it doesn't last very long. I expect a $2,000 refrigerator to last at least 20 years if you take good care of it, like vacuuming where necessary and keeping it clean.

My fridge had stopped working. I called Amana and gave flamingo appliances to look at. The technician said water got into the lines and the fridge couldn't be fixed because of rust. I don't know how rust can form on an aluminum line and combine with coolant. I have a service contract with Amana and they refused to honor it because they said rust is not covered. I don't believe the coach because he didn't look much and tried different things. He was at my house for about 15 minutes and called Amana. I called Amana and they told me they won't even reimburse me for spoiled food because rust damage is not covered. I have time left on my contract and they wouldn't prorate either and want to charge me for the service call. I have to buy a new fridge, but nothing Amana does.

This cooler works properly and over time is reliable. HOWEVER, corners have clearly been cut in the quality of the outer handles (fridge and lower freezer) which have seriously yellowed becoming a complete and embarrassing eyesore in my kitchen!! I no longer consider Amana a trusted brand and will not be purchasing any more Amana devices going forward. Customers beware!! I find it especially appalling that yellowing occurs outside of any warranty period = Amana is all about making a profit at the customer's expense... short-sighted, stingy and silly for such an established brand. Amana - Fool me once, but never again!

I ordered and received the Amana model AZF33X20DW03 upright freezer in March 2020 and received it in late May 2020. The freezer cost $913.50 and lasted a year and stopped freezing. There was just over $400.00 worth of destroyed food. Rona Hardware said they won't cover the freezer as it's out of warranty. Given that there are only a few appliance manufacturers in the entire world, it looks like they have finally dominated the market by removing competition from the equation. How should consumers afford to replace new appliances annually?

We purchased and installed the Amana ART316TFDW in our home in October 2017. It came with a one-year limited parts warranty and no 3-year extended warranty option. In August 2019, less than two years after purchase, the refrigerator repairman said it was leaking Freon and would be expensive to fix. He recommended buying a new fridge. It was at this time that we lost our cool as well.

???? Amana Whirlpool Whirlpool Customer Service Center. The whole 4 MONTHS experience to replace our fridge was a joke. We had 4 service techs come in to decide we need the entire fridge replaced. So it couldn't be shipped for a whole month. It was now supposed to be delivered today, June 5, 2020, between 1:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Just to let you know that JB Hunt Transport Services, Inc. couldn't deliver it when scheduled because the driver ran out of hours, no fault of the driver. I blame the company for putting too many in the load so it couldn't be delivered on a scheduled appointment 3 days before. It absolutely shouldn't take 4 goddamn months to get a fridge let alone during COVID-19 putting my family in more danger of having to go to the store anymore for our needs of a family of 6. Not to mention my husband's medications and my daughters must be kept cold. THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE WE HAVE EVER HAD WITH A WARRANTY ISSUE. I personally expected more from all the company listings because we've had issues with every department before not having a working fridge for 4 months. Only buy these products if you expect to never have to deal with horrible customer service and an overall horrible experience. #whirlpoolsucks #whirlpoolcustomerservicesucks #amanasucks #fedup #Corona_Virus #medicalneeds

Now 2 weeks later same thing freezing all over again. I'm trying to get them to take it back. They keep passing me on to someone else. So if you want to buy a refrigerator, don't buy an Amana. They are rubbish and here is the model number ART316TFDW01 so think before you buy this fridge. I bought mine at brick and they didn't help me. I'm still trying to replace it. My refrigerator is seven and a half years old. It's a side-by-side SS Amana. About three years ago, so I was five at the time, the refrigerator stopped cooling. And when the repairman arrived, the freezer coils were all frozen. At this point, he changed the defrost timer, but said he wasn't comfortable with that being it. That was in June. In November, it happened again. We replace it again. Well, now it happened at least every three or four months. Sometimes we can reset the timer and it will work for a while again. I read all the comments and they are so numerous that I can't even read them all. Obviously, something with this product is extremely flawed. I asked them to go out and find the root cause of the problem, and they insist on only charging me for the service call. Not to mention the cost of the part. I really wish I could buy a new fridge because this one is a real headache. I'm so frustrated. I will never buy an Amana product again.

On November 23, 2011 my Amana 2007 french door refrigerato bottom freezer
On November 23, 2011, my Amana 2007 French Door, Bottom Freezer Refrigerator Model # AFI2538AES began making a loud popping noise, touch pad panel lights flickering, and cooling stopped. The popping noise was from the ice maker flap opening and closing. HV board needs replacement, Whirlpool Manufacturer #12920710. I contacted Amana to order the part. The service rep said it's on hold until February because they've been pulled off the shelf and are being refurbished. When I asked if the part would be covered by Amana, as a part that needed refurbishing was essentially defective, I was told no. He asked to speak to the supervisor, who claims he doesn't know where he heard that the part is being refurbished, but occasionally they have difficulty finding manufacturers to produce parts and he was sure that was the circumstance. I was told there were no other complaints like mine documented. Surprisingly, however, the supervisor was able to locate the outstanding part, which the service representative, parts department, and two independent repair shops were unable to find. I expressed my concern that the part found, only three in stock, may be leftover stock in need of refurbishment rather than from the previous manufacturer and not of the same quality as the part that can be produced and available in February. I suggested they refund the portion. They refused. I suggested that they refund should the replacement part need to be replaced. They refused. I thought of more suggestions but didn't think they were appropriate to express. Whirlpool/Maytag/Amana must recall Bottom Freezer Refrigerators with HV Plate #12920710 due to faulty or faulty part or incompatibility with these refrigerator models.

We purchased the Amana refrigerator 8 years ago from the Alabama Power Company
We purchased the Amana refrigerator 8 years ago from the Alabama Power Company and have had numerous problems over the years. For example, the ice maker sometimes dispenses ice and sometimes doesn't. Also, we don't spoil the water valve inlet and saturate our rugs. We replaced it for approximately $300 and time off work, having to wait for the repairman. Now, once again, it has gone wrong and we are again waiting for a repairman. I am very unhappy with this as we paid good money and got a practically new fridge that should last for many years.

I had it fixed under my warranty. 2011-11-25, the main part of the refrigerator was no longer cooling, although the freezer was still working. Amana now wants $65 for a home visit plus labor and parts or $312 for a one-year warranty that would include this repair. How disgusting it is to pay so much for an appliance and have it run for approximately 18 months, and then have the manufacturer want additional money to fix this lemon. after reading some of the reviews I would never pay an Amana repairman nor buy Amana again. The consumer should be able to get relief from companies like this one.

I bought an Amana stainless steel refrigerator with freezer drawer in good condition.
I purchased an Amana stainless steel refrigerator with freezer drawer in the bottom in December 2010 for $1200. Just five months ago, the freezer defroster with a 12-month warranty stopped working and water was dripping from the freezer all over the kitchen floor. The repair cost $250 to install a heating rod that the repair company (REO Appliance in Norwalk, CT where we purchased the product) told us it used to be installed in the units by Amana at the factory but chose to stop using them to save money. The heater rod was $20. The rest of the cost went to the service call and labor. Amana refused to refund our money. The unit is expensive and obviously defective by the way it is manufactured, but Amana refuses to fix it. They apparently believe that once you get past the 12-month warranty, you're on your own. We will never buy Amana again. The stuff is rubbish.

Amana fridge, not good after 6 years: we bought an Amana fridge
Amana Refrigerator, Not Good After 6 Years: We purchased an Amana refrigerator with bottom freezer, model #ABB2227DES, serial number 10253964EP from Sears approximately 6 years ago. We had several issues with the fridge starting right after the 12 month warranty expired. At one point I paid $300 for an extended warranty. I had to do more repairs and was told by several technicians that the compressor would be working and not worth paying for the repair (about 50% of the $1300 we paid for the fridge). At this point, including the refrigerator purchase and repairs, we have passed the $2,000 mark. Again the fridge just died and we were told the compressor was gone and it wasn't worth fixing unless Whirlpool agreed to pay for the repairs. I would like Whirlpool to pay for repairs to this refrigerator or provide a comparable refrigerator, or I will be contacting my own attorney about this.

We bought our Amana side by side in 1980 when we moved into our new home. I believe it is 24.5 cubic feet. Durability... it's still working perfectly and that's a sign of quality. That's 30 years and still kicking. We never had any repairs on it nor did we have any issues with the cooling system. The only one that gave up was the potable water line after 15 years of serving my family. The service I did annually was to clean and vacuum the accumulated dust at the bottom of the refrigerator, including cleaning the drain pan. And that. I bought an Amana fridge with bottom freezer about 4 years ago. I recently noticed water leaking under the freezer onto the laminate flooring. Upon further investigation, I noticed ice building up on the floor of the freezer. The bottom basket would scrape the ice when the door basket was pulled out. I checked the problem on the internet and noticed several similar complaints. At this point we assume that perhaps there has been a recall of a certain part causing the problem. I called the store where I bought the appliance and a technician was out within a day. He was experienced and knew what the problem was. It seems to be quite common. The replacement part has been repaired to solve the problem. Since that's what I was told, I asked about a possible recall. I was told the part had been modified since I bought my fridge. If the part has been altered or modified, it appears that Amana is aware of the issue. The part is a drain pipe. The cost to me, including labor, was nearly $200.00. I thought Amana should cover the cost as there are a number of complaints about this issue. The military suggested that I call Amana, so I did. Although the representatives were friendly and professional, they offered no resolution or satisfaction to my complaint. I spoke to a supervisor as well. I fully explained the reason for the call and my dissatisfaction with Amana, but I really felt like they didn't care. I stated that they would lose me as a customer if they couldn't support their product, especially knowing this was not a new issue. I think customer satisfaction doesn't count much today. Too bad, but that's the last Amana product I'll ever buy.

Amana Freezer (AQF2013TEW03) - I purchased a 20 cubic foot upright freezer in Feb 2011. I had a technician here in March 2011 because I could see the light outside on the right side of the seal. Since the light was on continuously, it kept the interior warm, so the freezer ran non-stop for 6 weeks. Now, the inside keeps freezing at the top. Since it is no longer under warranty, I called another repair company. The person who left said that the entire interior of the door is falling apart, faulty mold and its sagging. The seal at the top of the door is not straight and never was. As the inner door is sagging, the seal was and is still sagging. I called customer service for the third time today. They said because it's out of warranty they won't do anything about it. I told them it's been a problem since I bought it and they said I should have told them within 90 days of the first repair that it wasn't correct. How was I to know the door/seal hasn't been done like this since I bought it new? They told me I would have to buy a new door for $403.44 plus tax and shipping. They kept mentioning the lack of warranty and that it would be fixed if I had an extended warranty. We weren't offered an extended warranty when we bought it (which I told them) and they said I should have gotten a postcard reminding me the warranty period was ending soon. I never got the card and the customer service department doesn't believe me. This is terrible customer service and they don't stand by their product. Four months out of warranty and I'm stuck with a very large boat anchor. Their customer service is appalling to say the least. The supervisor is just as bad and they don't give a shit about anything. I will never buy another Amana/Whirlpool product again.

This was a counter depth side-by-side refrigerator and had plenty of space, water and ice in the door. Adjustable glass shelves with lots of special built-in compartments too. In the 23 years I've owned it, the only thing I've had to do is change the ice machine tray. Well done. It's still running today in someone else's kitchen.

Since purchasing the Amana refrigerator, installed 4/2014, it has been repaired 3 times and now the ice machine has failed again. I called to schedule a repair and was told the policy was canceled due to non-payment. Extended warranty and unit are paid for in full at the time of purchase! Of all the appliances I've owned over the past 45 years, this is hands down the worst. Am I required to make a copy and send it to prove that the warranty is still in effect? No! What a windup! DO NOT BUY AMANA PRODUCTS! Unless you want a lemon and have to make your own ice. So far, the water pump and ice machine have been replaced. The first ice machine replacement was placed the wrong way and had to have a service technician back in to correct the problem.

We purchased an Amana base model A9RXNMFWB01 refrigerator in June 2010, delivered in July 2010. The refrigerator had been making a lot of noise for the past few months. We didn't realize the fan wasn't working properly. When the fan stopped, the food was still frozen in the top freezer. But the refrigerator compartment would not drop below 50 degrees. I called the technician from Amana. A&E couldn't make it until the following week, so we called a local repairman. $182 later, new fan, fridge is fixed. It's only 15 months old! Our old Amana is still working since 1997. We have never had a problem with a refrigerator in our 35 years of buying appliances. Now I see compressors going bad in comments. Appliances are not well made and we'll be lucky if we get 8 years out of this Amana with cheap parts. There go our landfills. What can we buy that won't cost hundreds to fix? We never had to buy an extended warranty. This is a money maker for Amana (Maytag, Whirlpool). It's a lesson learned. I'm very dissatisfied. I think we deserve to be compensated for this breakdown, not least because it broke during the 1st year of warranty. We'll see if Amana can fix that.

We bought our Amana fridge last year...it's still under warranty. Three days ago it stopped working... too hot inside. The first person I spoke to at Amana/Whirlpool said I would have to wait a week for service. She was so unhelpful, she couldn't have sounded less interested. I found a local repairman who said he could do the warranty work for Amana and could come right away, but I needed a dispatch number. When I called Amana again I got a more helpful person and the repairman came that day. However, the fridge needs a new part and so I still have to wait until next week. Fortunately, we were very cold, so all my food is in Mother Nature's fridge! After reading all the comments above I hope I don't have a total lemon. We bought the fridge because it was the only one that fit the space we have...but I'm so disappointed.

I bought my fridge 4 years ago. Today, the freezer (bottom) stopped. I called the original store for information; 4 years, so it's out of warranty. I called another service company - more than the first one. I looked up Amana online and called toll free. They confirmed that there is nothing they can do due to the 1 year warranty. I called my friend who bought the same refrigerator; She had the same problem and invested a lot of money in the fridge, which never worked properly. Then I found many customers online with the same problem in 4 years; compressor stop! This shouldn't happen with a new fridge. I called Amana's toll free number back and asked to speak to a manager. I spoke with Sherri, ID# **. After putting me on hold, she advised that she would sell me an extended warranty for $392.39 to fix the freezer! This shouldn't be; I told her I should file a class action lawsuit as many customers had the same complaint.

On September 26, 2011, when the refrigerator portion of my Amana refrigerator, model # ABL192ZFES, serial number 10379497JX, was not cooling properly, I called Trail Appliance where I purchased the refrigerator. They gave me the solution number W3, a contract service company at 1-866-913-1350, and I received Extended Warranty Claim #G09264, Claim #95199095. The freezer was working fine at this point. A week later a technician came and told me I needed to order parts to fix the problem. On November 7, 2011 a technician came and told me they would replace the compressor and relay and the fridge would work fine for many years to come. On November 8, 2011, I woke up to find that my fridge and freezer weren't working and all the food in the freezer had melted. I called the technician all day and left messages on his answering machine, but there was no response. On November 9, 2011 at 10 am I called W3 Solutions at 1-866-913-1350 and let them know what was going on. The rep then issued a new work order and told me it would be 10 days before someone got back to me. I lost about $200 worth of food and called Trail Appliance to complain and try to recoup the cost of the food I lost. They told me they couldn't cover the cost of the food and that I should contact W3 Solutions. I am now without a refrigerator and not scheduled to see a technician until November 16, 2011. I was home all day on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, but I have not received any phone calls. On Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at 11 am, I received a call from the technician. He told me he was on vacation in Hawaii for a week and got a dispatch to fix my fridge the day before. He told me that the new compressor he had installed on November 7th had completely stopped and he would have to order a new one. I asked him how long this would take and he replied a few days. I'm living on canned food at the moment, with no working fridge or freezer. I made that clear to the coach and he said it was the best he could do. Not good enough! It's been 2 months since I started the service call and I've been struggling without a working fridge. There seems to be no accountability for the technicians doing the work as the technician who installed the compressor and relay would not return my calls. If there is a problem after a technician leaves, the only option is to call W3 Solutions to make another appointment with a technician to start the whole process over again. So if a technician needs to order parts, you expect the parts to arrive by snail mail to the technician and the service can take months. Seems like they are trying really hard to wear the customer down to buy a new appliance and skip the service calls. This is ridiculous and I am not happy with Trail Appliance, Whirlpool or W3 Solutions contracting services to Whirlpool. It's unacceptable!

We purchased an Amana atb2136arw refrigerator in 2006. This is a very basic style top freezer model. In 2011 we had the first problem with the food section not keeping a good temperature. The compressor fan had to be replaced. This repair cost $175.00. Less than two years later, same problem: the freezer seemed to be fine, but the temperature in the food section couldn't get much below 50 degrees. But this time, the Amana was declared dead by our repair technician. He determined that half of the coils in the cooling assembly were not working - not at all. Basically, the only way to fix it would be to replace the entire cooling coil assembly - something that pretty much can't be done after this model leaves the factory. In other words, it's not even repairable. When you add up the initial price paid, plus the cost of a repair, this POS device cost us $200.00+ per year of use. Needless to say, the replacement refrigerator we purchased was not made by Amana.

Beware of Amana company. I don't like to give negative reviews to companies, but the time has come. Our church purchased a new side-by-side Amana refrigerator/freezer in August. It worked until mid-December and then it started to heat up. It turned on on the coldest settings and still continued to not do its job. Frozen foods are cold, but not frozen. On the 3rd of January I called Amana and on the 14th a technician came out. He said, "It needs fixing, but I don't have the tools to do that." About 10 days later another technician came by and said "Need a new part but I don't have one with me. The next week he came and replaced the part but it still didn't work. I called Amana again and told them that since it's still under warranty we want a new appliance. I was told they don't do that unless a technician comes 2 times and he has to say it doesn't work. We had 3 visits. She said she would send her technician over tip because he would know what's going on. Apparently the others didn't. He was supposed to come on Thursday, but they called and canceled because they had the wrong technician booked. Rescheduled for today, Monday, February 25th, but canceled because the truck broke down. We're finding it very inconvenient to have a device that hasn't worked in over 2 months, don't you think? Now scheduled for Friday. Let's see. The only help I got was when I went to the Home Depot manager about it and he pursued them, but still far from being resolved. I imagine Amana has good appliances and we get a lemon. The devices are questionable, but the company is terrible to deal with.

Notice. This refrigerator stopped working after 2.5 years with no warranty after 1 year and was thrown away. Before last weekend, I would have rated this device high. We bought this refrigerator for my mother-in-law, who is in her 90s. It was the perfect size and worked fine without a problem... until it just stopped working without any sort of warning suggesting there was a problem. We called the warranty and were referred to Whirlpool for service. Model #ART318FFDW apparently wears a number of different brands including Amana, Maytag, Kenmore, IKEA, and more. They reported that the device only came with a 1 year warranty. So we called in an independent technician to service it, only to be told that this is a common problem with this model and would cost upwards of $700 to repair (they sell in Canada between $7-800 new), advising us not to. it was worth fixing because there was a risk of it happening again. He provided a report (see photo for screenshot) and suggested we call the manufacturer again as they will be aware of this issue and there may even be a recall. We did just that and they denied any knowledge of issues with this model and there were no recalls. And since we didn't buy the additional warranty, there was no appeal. I wish I had to pay to have our fridge fixed since there was no additional warranty, but I certainly didn't expect a 2.5 year old fridge to be unrepairable. That parts cost as much as replacing the refrigerator is unacceptable. To make matters worse, Whirlpool offered us an apology with a 15% loyalty REBATE if we bought any replacement model from Whirlpool brands, even at a discount. Although we weren't going to buy the same model, we thought this was at least a form of recourse and reluctantly bought another fridge. When I filed the claim with the code they emailed me, the code was rejected saying the code had already been redeemed. I had just received the code the day before as it was an emergency replacement purchase and the code was not working. I contacted Whirlpool by replying to their email which was an unanswered email address. I then sent a message via the contact form and many days later I still have not heard back. If I don't get one by the end of the week, I'll go to the trouble of returning it and replacing it with a different brand. In short, I do not recommend this model nor do I recommend the Whirlpool brand because of the poor response to a lemon from a purchase.

Seven years ago, we purchased an Amana side-by-side refrigerator-freezer with an integrated water and ice dispenser. Several months ago, I woke up at night to the sound of running water. When I got to the kitchen, I saw that the appliance's LCD had burned out and water was dripping from the water dispenser. A design defect allows the switch that controls the water to open when the control panel fails. Our home has hardwood floors in the kitchen and adjacent living room and dining room. Unfortunately, the floorboards from standing water buckled; Where water pooled in the dining room, water seeped through the floorboards and needed to be replaced. The entire floor had to be renovated, varnished and sealed.

I bought the Amana 25.1 cu. Stainless Steel Side-by-Side Refrigerator, Model # ASD2522WRS from Home Depot 15 Months Ago Sept 2010. Two weeks ago all my food in the fridge went bad. I noticed as I was pouring milk into my son's cup, something told me to taste it because it didn't smell fresh even though it had over three weeks until expiration. He tasted like sour cream. I'm so glad my son didn't drink this. I almost threw up. Also, I had a four-day tray of ice cream in the freezer that was still liquid, my ice cream had softened, and all of my kids' popsicles had crumbled at my touch. I had to throw most of our food away and we've been eating takeout ever since. I contacted Amana and they told me the warranty was only for 12 months. They scheduled a technician to come to my house for repairs. I should be priority since I was stuck at home with no food. I waited all day for the techs to come and/or call. I even tried calling and couldn't because their lines were busy. I left a message and got a call back the next day. Amana gave them the wrong phone number. I didn't get a quote so I asked the techs directly for an estimate and they said they were going to charge me $129 just to come to my house + expenses. Say what now? This is ridiculous.

We purchased an Amana refrigerator #ABD2533DEB in December 2004. We have had it for 7 years now. There are only 2 adults in our house so the fridge is like new. We just paid $95 to find out that the compressor is damaged. The repair cost will be US$800, with US$300 for the compressor and US$500 for labor. We were told that the compressor that failed was made in China and that there were a lot of problems with these compressors! We were assured that all new aftermarket compressors are now made in Korea with much less hassle. We lost everything in the freezer and most of the fresh food in the fridge. Amana & Maytag need to do a much better job behind their products! Based on what I've read, we will never buy another Amana! We will also advise any friend who wants to buy a new home appliance.

I purchased an Amana Model Refrigerator; #ASS2222FEQ with serial number 1156842NA on 3/25/2008. On 07/13/2009, second incident of freezer not working in a refrigerator less than 1 year and a half old. I called 877-342-1446. Desperate to miss a freezer of food, I was advised by Kim that a repairman would arrive on 7/15 between 8am and 12pm. I called 800-628-5782, which was another number I had for Amana, and spoke to Jamila. After explaining the problem, Jamila advised me that there was no service request on the computer, so she launched and advised that a technician would be here on Wednesday 7/15/09. I told Jamila that a second freezer failure in less than a year is totally unacceptable. 7/15/09, repairman arrived around 8am, discovered some problem with paperwork; I called 877-342-1446 and spoke to Mark who was able to let me know that I had called the manufacturer and the recommended extended warranty numbers are separate and do not have shared computer programs. Mark said he could take care of it, gave me a confirmation number for the repairman and was faxing the sheets to the local office. On 7/16/2009 the local repair company called me to say that the Maytag Dependability Plus was refusing to pay the bill because they authorized another company for the repair and that company called after the first repairman left. Amana Dependability Plus will not change the work order from A&E Factory Service (which did not come or perform any service) to Convenient Appliance Service, which came and provided service. Jim at 877-3542-1446 did not give me the names of any supervisors or transfer me to anyone else. He said that nobody there has more authority than he did. So I called 800-628-5782 and asked for the name of the president of the company. Lisa didn't know the name of the president of Amana and said all she could do was switch me over to Dependability Plus because I have an extended warranty, endless cycle and repeat. I let all parties know that I didn't realize I was talking to two different departments, but since the service was approved, I don't understand the major issue of canceling the work order to A&E Factory Service and transferring it to Convenient Appliance Service. Oh no, it can't be done! Aside from apparently having faulty equipment, this is a company dedicated to providing customer frustration. This could have been resolved so easily, but the agents did their best and will be damned if they help the customer. This is the last Whirlpool/Amana product I will ever buy. Remember, this is the second time the freezer has stopped freezing in less than a year and a half. Customer service is a joke and we wonder why jobs go overseas? I have a $97 bill, my freezer issue still hasn't been fixed, and I've wasted a whole day. My B/P is going up. I regret buying an Amana product and certainly an extended warranty.

I bought an Amana AFI2359ERM00 refrigerator in December 2015 and it broke 4 months after the 1 year warranty expired. Imagine that. Glad I bought the extended warranty through Home Depot! LoL since April 2017 my fridge has stopped working 5 times and totally defrosted and ruined 5 fridges full of food. Freds Appliance has gone out 5 times to try to fix it and I can't. Seems to break down every 3 weeks or so. After 2-3 days of clicking and humming, it starts to cool down again. Well the quickest they can get it out is 4 days and by then it's working and the tech says well I've pushed a few buttons and I can't find anything wrong. Amana/Whirlpool washed their hands of the extended warranty I purchased through HD. HD will not replace it because they claim the SAME part must be replaced 3 times before it is considered a lemon. It's been in limbo since April and it's so frustrating. Don't waste your money on Amana. Bad quality! Even worse customer service. The same with HD. Very robotic in their responses. They all whine that I'm having a problem but don't take responsibility. Also, how the unit seems to break down when I'm not home and all the ice in the hopper melts and runs down the front of the fridge all over the floor. It has now ruined my hardwood flooring around the unit. What POS.

I bought a brand new stainless steel Amana fridge 6 months ago for 1200. The day it arrived I had issues. The ports do not line up. One port is 2 inches below the other. I called Amana and they told me this was due to a crooked house! The refrigerator is perfectly level. Within hours, we realized that the ice machine had design flaws. Water and ice cubes do not fall into the glass. Ice spreads all over the floor. We resorted to opening the freezer door and taking out the ice. About two weeks after I got the fridge, the sliding fruit and vegetable drawers were cracked. They are made of very flimsy plastic. The drawers do not have casters or a sliding system. They just sit plastic on plastic. This causes great friction and difficulty in closing the drawers, leading to their breakage. Amana offered to send new ones but didn't offer a solution. The show room fridge had extra freezer shelves and a meat cheese drawer. Mine came without them and I was told they are added by Amana customer support. I will never buy an Amana product again. Very questionable craftsmanship.

I bought an Amana refrigerator 3 years ago and soon the compressor burned out. I had a 4 year warrant from Home Depot. One guy, he wasn't from Home Depot but from an appliance repair shop, they hired him and he was really rude. I'd ask him a question about freon and he'd shrug. I think it was because he's white and I'm Spanish. Lately, since the apartments next door have been empty for a year, cockroaches come to my house from there. Because I keep track of cockroaches, we didn't have them before. He found two cockroaches on the floor and put it on the floor that we were infested, which we are not. Now Home Depot says it won't fix it. But another repairman says this is nonsense. Even if you have cockroaches, they cannot get into the compressor. I blame Amana for making cheap fridges. Did you know they put cardboard to cover the back of the fridge? And I blame Home Depot for not delivering what they agreed to. We'll have to put up another tent over our house to get rid of the cockroaches.

I purchased my Amana Refrigerator with Bottom Freezer (Model # ABB 1924 WEWO) in August 2010 for over $1,100. In July 2012 it was leaking from the freezer. A thick layer of ice had built up under the freezer baskets and it periodically thawed and leaked. Amana's claims department simply said the refrigerator was out of warranty and offered to sell me a warranty for several hundred dollars. I declined the warranty and called a technician who cost me $114. He said the problem was a factory defect. Factory workers had plugged the drain with a type of eyelet called a duck's bill. This prevented the water from draining and caused it to freeze. Clearly, this was a factory defect, the result of incompetent workmanship and sloppy quality control. Of course, quality and Amana have become a contradiction in terms. I will never buy an Amana product and I warn all other consumers to beware of Amana. In my experience, at the very least, this product is defective and the company refuses to accept responsibility for the inferiority of their products.

I bought an Amana side-by-side fridge in March and it didn't work. It was replaced in April and the compressor died in July so they put in a new compressor which never worked. Now they want to put in another compressor that probably won't work either. 3 weeks without a fridge and I can't go out to eat all the time. The only thing worse than their products is their customer service, whose policy seems to be pretty bad, fix it someday... maybe! Don't buy an Amana!

I thought I had done adequate research through Consumer Reports, etc. My Amana French door refrigerator, model #AFD2535FES, worked fine for the first year. Then the food compartment wasn't as cold as it should have been and the food started to go bad, even though the food in the freezer drawer was solid and snow started to form inside. Id bought an extended warranty so I thought fixing it wouldn't be a problem. The repairman said it was due to too much food in the freezer, so air couldn't circulate in the food compartment. He said to defrost the freezer, which I did. It seemed to work fine for two weeks and the same thing happened again - all the food went bad again even with minimal food in the freezer. The second repairman came out, this time he said he needed a new heating element. I waited another week for the part to arrive (more time off from work) and then he came back and replaced it. Two weeks later, the same problem happened. Spoiled food again and time off from work. I'm expecting the repairman later today. This fancy stainless steel behemoth is a lemon and needs to be picked up. The internal temperature is 65F and makes it impossible to store food. It was a huge expense and a huge inconvenience. I will never buy another Amana appliance and will advise everyone I know to boycott their products.

We bought an Amana refrigerator in May 2005. It is now 6 1/2 years old and has recently started making noise. She died last night and the repair will cost around $800 or so. This fridge was working fine until recently. For the past two years, my parents and my wife's parents have bought this same model because they like ours. I hope theirs doesn't die either. We called a repairman who said that in that year (2005) there were problems with the compressors. From reading other complaints it seems that it is not limited to that year. When researching different fridges last night, it appears that Amana, Maytag, and Whirlpool are the exact same fridge with just a different nameplate on them. Whirlpool bought Maytag in 2006 and Maytag had already bought Amana before that. So much for the Amish people in Iowa making a decent device. We are disappointed in Amana. We had my grandmother's refrigerator when I was in high school. She must have been about 35 years old and it worked well.

We are an adult home for two people with maybe a tie-in daily use. I replaced it with the appropriate part on September 11, 2011. On November 5, 2011 the replacement rail broke in less than two months. Ties were not overloaded. I bought my first replacement from Appliance Parts Pros. The current one was ordered from a link directly from the Amana page. On 3/3/12, it broke again. Each time this needs replacing it costs $25. By other reports, Amana is not covering the replacement. Are we to believe that we should spend $100 a year over the lifetime of the refrigerator?

I bought an Amana refrigerator with our tax money a little over a year ago. It was a tough decision to spend over $1,000 on a fridge, but here we are, a little over a year later, and the crispest drawer has crumbled and crumbled on its sliding edge. Bad design and poor choice of materials. Amana, of course, says that the drawer is not covered by any warranty. They want well over $100 for a new drawer. That's 10% of the original price. To hell with Amana. I won't make that mistake again. Get the word out: Don't buy Amana! For now, I'm stacking fruits/veggies on top of the bottom drawer. I'm looking in vain on the web to find a cheaper drawer. I'm really, really upset!

We bought our Amana refrigerator from Sears when they released the bottom freezer drawer. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. 3 months after I got it the freezer handle fell off so my husband screwed it back on. Once again he left. Needless to say, he keeps leaving. Eventually I got tired of it and put it in the garage. My husband put it back. it lasted maybe 6 months, then it fell back into his hands. Well, I will never own a Frigidaire again and will be adding Amana to that list now as well. Had this fridge for 16 years. My next one will be a Samsung.

We got a good price on an Amana side-by-side ice maker and water dispenser from Home Depot. But the ice dispenser door failed - a cheap plastic set - and fixing it would cost 1/4 of the cost of the fridge. Then the plastic frames on the glass shelves began to crumble - they are built in such a way that stress cracks are inevitable. They cost about 1/8 of the cost of the fridge each. Then the refrigerator itself began to deteriorate from the inside - it is very fragile. Total piece of shit. I would not recommend Amana to anyone, nor Maytag, nor any of their other brands.

We inherited an Amana refrigerator that is about 10 years old. According to the previous owner, it has been fixed before as warranty companies refuse to replace an item regardless of the repair cost. Our compressor broke. 900+ dollars to repair. I've never had a problem with a fridge, but I also tend to buy Kenmore or Maytag. We have an Amana refrigerator model ARB2557CSR. We've had this for 8 years. We've done some repairs over the years but last night took the breath away from all of us who witnessed the door fall off its hinge and break the contents that were in the door. If anyone's foot had been in the area, it would have cut or crushed it terribly. The door opened and, for some unknown reason, fell to the slate floor. If our grandson had been around he could have been crushed. I checked the hinges and sprockets, and it still didn't make sense. After reading other observations about ports in customer reviews, I'm one to add to the list. This door was a big door, not a double door. Was heavy. Please be aware of this defect. I'm looking at other models, but there have been similar malfunctions that the reviews have stated. Really a frightening experience. We'll be looking at other models, but we're not really confident about any. Hope this helps.

Bought an upright freezer in the fall of 2019, the manufacture date on the back is June 2019! 4 months past the 1 year warranty date, I have already replaced the heater coil at a cost of 200.00. In the last 6 months I have had to deflate and thaw the coils at least 5 times! After replacing the coil (which was checked for continuity and failed) I still have problems! So who knows how many other parts are needed to fix the problem. Amana basically said, Too bad you're on your own, after condescendingly explaining how to take care of my freezer!! Read the fine print for warranty exclusions. Who would have thought that a rusty stainless steel finish isn't covered by a stainless steel appliance? Our $1200+ Amana AFD2535FES 12 refrigerator started showing signs of rust about two years after I bought it. Research shows this can be an issue if inferior stainless steel is used. Customer Service said to try cleaning with warm soapy water and a T-shirt. If that didn't work, we had to call a service agent at our expense. I have other stainless steel appliances (GE) that don't have rust and are much older, in the same room and cleaned in the same way. It's ironic because I thought the GE was a cheaper product, so I intentionally bought an AMANA thinking it was better quality.

I had no idea the 25 cf side-by-side Amana fridge I bought in 1993 would last this long. It is now 20 years old and still going strong. The only issues I've had are with the ice maker, which I fixed a few times years ago. But when I moved the fridge to work on the floor and put it back in, I chose not to plug the ice maker back in. All ice makers break a lot, it seems. So I use the ice box to store food and I use old-fashioned ice trays with a specially shaped bucket for ice. The temperature control on my fridge seems to be fine after all these years. I vacuum the front grille at the bottom occasionally and underneath as far as possible. But I'm looking for a new fridge because I think this one will probably run out soon and I don't want to have to buy a new one in an emergency situation. I don't know if Amanas are still made the same way, or if the quality has dropped, or even if I just got lucky with my fridge. But the layout of the fridge is amazing, the special compartment to keep the milk even cooler, the freezer space, the silence (without the ice maker it's been pretty quiet, but the ice maker was pretty loud). If I could find an exact replica of the one I have, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Our Kenmore Elite upright freezer (made by Whirlpool) died after 5 years. To me, that's a short shelf life. We purchased a new Amana upright freezer (also made by Whirlpool) to replace it on Feb 18, 2018 and today (June 11, 2018) it now refuses to freeze anything. It runs constantly but doesn't freeze even though it's set to deep freeze. I called in for a repair which is coming up tomorrow so I'll see how that pans out. Probably a nightmare. Also, and while we deal with the freezer, our Whirlpool fridge also died at 9 years old. Again, doesn't that seem a little short? Consumer Reports and others say 10-15 years is normal... so honestly Whirlpool is now building rubbish? Updated 7/12/2018: I wrote an initial review on the 11th of June about my experience with Whirlpool. This is an update: I just want to let you know how completely disenchanted I am with Whirlpool products. We purchased a Kenmore Elite freezer (made by Whirlpool) approx. 5 years ago and died prematurely last February. So in February we replaced it with an Amana freezer (also made by Whirlpool) and it too died after 4 months. THE REPAIRMAN CAME TODAY AND COULD NOT FIX IT. Also, our Kenmore Elite refrigerator (made by Whirlpool) also died prematurely two days ago and is also beyond repair. So now we have no freezer or fridge and it will take days to figure out what the next step is... replace??? So who pays for all the food we lose? I am absolutely disgusted with Whirlpool products. When communicating with Whirlpool his attitude was lackluster. It goes through a process that takes days to complete and weeks to replace, if they agree to do so. Meanwhile, we're wasting hundreds of dollars worth of food and nobody cares. I will never buy Whirlpool again.
